prime time focus with Alyne Ellis
John Brown Farm, Tannery, and Museum in Pennsylvania
March 29, 2008 – Alyne discovers the John Brown Farm in the northwestern Pennsylvania town of Guys Mills. The Colburn family opened up this small museum, attached to the Brown family cemetery, in 2000. People come from all over the world to visit.
Brown moved to this farm from Ohio, and built a tannery on the land. The farm was an important way station on the Underground Railroad, so Donna Colburn and her husband Gary focus on Brown's abolitionism in the small museum on this site.
Years after he left this land, Brown went on to become the fiery anti-slavery leader school children study. You can find out more about John Brown, and the museum, in the links to your right.
